Decking the Halls and Lighting the Holiday Nights at the Blue Shutters

We love the holiday season at the Blue Shutters. There are events and activities all across Greater Cape Ann, awesome shopping at our local merchants, and lots of holiday decorations in each community. The Blue Shutters does it's part by stringing holiday lights on the inn -- part of the region-wide Cape Ann Winter Lights program. And inside the Blue Shutters, we decorate our tree and "deck the halls" of our main room. Greater Cape Ann 2024 Holiday Calendar

We love the holiday season at the Blue Shutters. Starting in November, we begin "decking the halls" and planning our Blue Shutters Holiday Open House (this year, it's set for Saturday, December 7). Blue Shutters Beachside Inn Holiday Open House and Tree Trimming -- Saturday, December 7

It's that time of year! We invite you to join us at the Blue Shutters Beachside Inn on Saturday, December 7, for our annual Open House and Tree Trimming. As we do each year, we welcome friends to help us celebrate the season with some holiday refreshments and lots of holiday cheer. We'll open our doors at 4pm and continue into the evening -- come anytime and stay for as long as you'd like. Help decorate our tree, enjoy Christmas songs, sip wine or eggnog by a roaring fire, munch on holiday treats, and or just chat with friends old and new -- all against the backdrop of beautiful Good Harbor Beach. Blue Shutters COVID-19 Update -- Looking Forward to a Happy and Healthy 2023

With the support of loyal guests of the Blue Shutters, we've endured the challenges presented by the pandemic over the past several years -- and through it all, we've been able to offer some relief during these trying times. COVID-19 first became a reality for most of us in 2020, and it forced the Blue Shutters to close for three months that spring, but we re-opened in June, with certain safety protocols to protect our guests and staff. In the summer, fall and winter of 2020, we were particularly careful, but as 2021 and 2022 unfolded, we were able to relax some of the restrictions. As we enter 2023, we understand that there is still a need to proceed thoughtfully -- for all of our safety, some of the protocols we implemented in 2020 are still in place. Here’s a recap: The main room – which was restricted in summer 2020 – is now open to everyone…as are the outdoor areas. You'll find hand sanitizers throughout the inn -- and masks are available should you need one. Masks are not required, but we welcome those who wish to use them -- and we'll do our part to accommodate those guests. We will not enter your room to make beds or clean during your stay, unless you request this service. This includes trash pick-up – we ask that you place trash in a trash bag provided, leave these outside your door and advise us that pick-up is needed. Please use the door-hanger to note if you need service and when you check out. Over three years, we’ve brought back some breakfast items that were eliminated during 2020 – there will be coffee, tea, fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, juice, and breakfast bars. The two rooms that were previously offered with shared baths – Wheelhouse and Captain’s Mate – remain unavailable unless they are taken with another room with a private bath. As our community, the nation, and the world make positive strides in dealing with the pandemic, we expect our guests will be able to enjoy all that they've come to expect at the Blue Shutters. Blue Shutters Supports Birding on Cape Ann!

This winter and spring, the Blue Shutters is helping to celebrate one of the most popular Cape Ann activities of the off-season: birding. The Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce has long organized a winter birding boat trip, and this year a group got together to offer more opportunities for birders -- both veteran bird-watchers and those who might be interested in this activity. These opportunities include a Winter Birding Speaker Series -- and one of these presentations will be at the Blue Shutters on April 2.  Other presentations are planned for the Emerson Inn and the Beauport Hotel.  Check this Chamber webpage for more information -- there are lots of great articles and information on winter birding.  and if you're visiting and looking for a place to stay, let us know.
